Ways to Make Your Engagement Ring Look Bigger

Ways to Make Your Engagement Ring Look Bigger

An engagement ring is a symbol of love that you and/or your partner will be wearing for years to come. As such, one factor many couples consider is the size and visual impact of the stone - some people want it to be subtle, while others want it to look as big and glamorous as possible. If the latter is what you’re looking for, this is the right blog post! We will be detailing some ways you can make your engagement ring look bigger without breaking the bank. Let’s take a closer look at how to pick your engagement ring setting for maximum impact.

Diamond Cuts

1. Choose the Right Shape

The shape of your diamond or gemstone makes a big difference in how large it looks when worn. Stones that have a larger surface area, an elongated shape, and weight distribution to the top of the stone will tend to look larger when compared with other stones with the same carat weight. As such, oval, marquise, emerald, and pear cut diamonds tend to look larger than round cut stones.

If you are aiming for a larger looking diamond, we would not recommend princess or asscher cut diamonds as most of the weight distribution lies below the table. Contact us to learn more about different diamond shapes!

2. Choose the Right Cut

How well the stone is cut also hugely affects how large it looks - the more the cut maximizes sparkle and brilliance, the larger the stone will look to the eye! Cut is arguably one of the most important aspects of the 4Cs and the scale goes from poor, fair, good, very good, to excellent. These cut grades are actually really important as it could make a huge carat size look considerably smaller if the cut is not optimized! At Lovelri, we only offer excellent cut grade stone, the highest quality of cut there is when purchasing diamonds.

3. Choose the Right Settings

Halo settings are popular for creating an eye-catching display around the center stone. A halo setting consists of several small diamonds surrounding the center gemstone, making it appear larger and giving it more sparkle. This setting can also help reduce cost instead of spending more for a larger center stone—but still appears bigger on the finger.

Pavé settings are another great way to enhance the appearance of your center stone by adding extra sparkle around it. Also known as micropave settings, pavé settings feature tiny diamonds having minimal metal space between them which create an illusion of continuous diamond bands around the center stones. This creates a captivating display that will sparkle all around!

We also recommend a thinner setting to create a daintier ring - this gives an illusion of a larger stone when compared to the band! Lovelri’s rings are fully customizable with no extra design fees, so let us know what is most important for you and we will find the sweet spot to create the ring of your dreams!

In summary, when choosing an engagement ring setting, there are plenty of different options available that can help make your stone look bigger without breaking the bank. Consider opting for an oval cut diamond, halo settings, and/or pavé settings with tiny diamonds set close together to maximize its sparkle and brilliance! No matter what kind of setting you choose, these tips will help make sure your engagement ring looks stunning!
